Warner Bros. Games and Netherrealm Studios will release a DLC of Ghostface for Mortal Kombat 1. According to Gematsu the DLC is set for November 19 as an early access release and will be made available November 26th for everyone else. Ghostface is part of the second Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Kombat Pack known as “Khaos Reigns” and will be made available for owners of the expansion pass. The character was initially teased at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
Ghostface is the recurring villain of the Scream Franchise. He is the tenth addition to Mortal Kombat 1 and According to Gamerant he will feature original fatalities based on his appearance in the films. Some fatalities will include a second Ghostface that brutalizes opponents. Several alternate facial cosmetics for Ghostface can be seen in the trailer, these mask are exclusive to Mortal Kombat 1 and are not featured within the Scream films.
The recently released trailer begins with the films Ghostface asking if you like scary movies. Johnny Cage is seen watching a horror film and Ghostface with a bloody mask comes up from behind and stabs Johnny in the neck. The camera blacks out and lightning strikes. Ghostface is seen stabbing another victim. Ghostface is then seen preparing to stab again and asks his victim what their favorite scary movie is? A pair of Ghostface can be seen cleaning off their knives. Ghostface is coming can be read on the screen. A sharp toothed Ghostface is seen attacking the viewer. The trailer ends.
Sports illustrated has indicated that it has been nine years since a character from a slasher film has been featured in a Mortal Kombat game. Ghostface will be following the likes of Freddie Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface. In an effort to build Halloween excitement Studio Netherrealm has dropped their trailer at the perfect moment.
