Ghost Recon Wildlands Meets Splinter Cell in Upcoming Year 2 Content

Ubisoft has released new teaser for its Year 2 Ghost Recon Wildlands content, this time starring Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher. Special Operations I, the first of four free updates to the game, features Sam Fisher’s return to action while partnered with the Ghosts “in a special stealth-focused nighttime PVE mission.” In addition, Sam Fisher continues to be voiced by Michael Ironside.

“The Predator mission was about the ultimate hunt. It was about who is the best hunter,” said Nouredine Abboud, Senior Producer at Ubisoft Paris. “Here, it’s not about the opposition. It’s about partnership. We didn’t want to propose a new enemy for the Ghosts, but rather, a great partner. Sam has a good sense of humor, but he’s a bit cynical, with a strong sense of duty. We wanted to see that in the story, the cutscenes, and his conversations with the Ghosts.”

The mission that features Sam is stealth-heavy, with a deadline, infiltration, and an eventual goal of protecting Sam as he extrapolates information. Players will have a no-kill objective prior to meeting up with Sam, and then defeat waves of enemies while he works. “Use all of the recon and stealth tools at your disposal, especially your drone and night vision goggles. Divert enemies with diversion grenades. Call in the rebels when you need assistance, or try to play the mission in co-op with your friends if you need extra help,” Abboud added.

Current owners of the game will be able to access this update for free, and Year 2 Pass owners will also get early access to the six new classes for Year 2, and a customization pack. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
