Overkill’s The Walking Dead Game Gets a Second Character Trailer

The first playable character in upcoming FPS Overkill’s The Walking Dead was revealed back in December of 2017 with a trailer for Aidan, a former architect-turned-brawler against the undead. Now, Overkill Software has released a second character trailer that introduces Maya, a young woman who before the apocalypse worked as a nurse in Washington, D.C.

The trailer gives us a glimpse of Maya’s past, as she and a doctor colleague witness people turning undead and battle an overrun hospital full of zombies. At some point during the fighting, Maya’s doctor friend is bitten and she is forced to kill him. Whatever personality Maya ends up having in the game, the trailer depicts someone still quite angry over the events that took place in the hospital. Maya will fill the role of a healer (though of course she’ll also be able to handle a fight), as her medical background lends itself now to keeping herself and other players alive.

Characters, and their development and backstories, are a point of special focus according to the developers, who have been working closely with Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman over the course of the game’s development. With Maya and Aidan’s reveal, two more main playable characters remain to be revealed, which we can expect in the coming months.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead is set to release in the fall of this year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
