Ghost of Tsushima Won ‘Player’s Voice’ at The Game Awards

It was announced earlier today that Ghost of Tsushima, the Sucker Punch PS4 exclusive, won the ‘Player’s Voice’ category in this year’s The Game Awards. The title is an action-adventure game following samurai within a beautiful open-world set in the late 13th century which has seen great success by being PlayStation 4’s fastest-selling original game. Therefore, it is understandable to see why players voted for Ghost of Tsushima.

The final round pitted Ghost of Tsushima against The Last of Us Part 2. The two titles were neck in neck, with The Last of Us Part 2 slightly in the lead, for most of the vote, until the Ghost of Tsushima pulled ahead in the four hours to beat The Last of Us Part 2 with 47% of the vote as compared to 33%. That was the latest release of the standings until Geoff Keighley and The Game Awards announced that Ghost of Tsushima officially won the ‘Player’s Voice’ category.

While most of The Game Award categories are a culmination of judge and fan votes, with 90% of the judge vote weighed against 10% of the fan vote, the ‘Player’s Voice’ category is solely comprised of fan votes throughout three rounds of voting. Overall, the Ghost of Tsushima went against other popular 2020 games including Doom EternalHadesSpider-Man: Miles Morales, and The Last of Us Part 2.

Ghost of Tsushima has also been nominated for such categories as Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Design, Best Performance, Best Audio Design, and Best Action/Adventure. To see the winners of the rest of The Game Awards categories, make sure to tune in on December 10 at 6:30 p.m. EST/ 3:30 p.m. PST on multiple platforms including YouTube and Twitch.
