Get Publicly Shamed In New Stardew Valley Single Player Content

A few days ago, we covered the new multiplayer beta that just launched for fan favorite farming adventure Stardew Valley. In the announcement, developers hinted that the update would cover the single player game as well, but they also wouldn’t post a full list of what that was until later on.

Luckily, the ever impatient internet has already started exploring the new features available to farmers in the update. A thread on Reddit has already appeared where players are cataloging all of the new features they encountered while playing in the new beta version of the game.

There are some cosmetic updates, including a new festival to enjoy during the winter, some new exchanges with various townsfolk, and perhaps more importantly, the ability to put hats on your horse.

One of the biggest updates, though, is the fact that you are now discouraged from dating multiple people at once. Or rather, from dating the entire town at once. The problems begin if you get to full hearts with all of the men or all of the women at the same time and then proceed to give them all the bouquet that indicates your serious interest in them. Once that happens, you will trigger an event where they all gather together and call you horrible monster for toying with their hearts. From then on, they will all refuse to speak to you when you see them around town. Pretty tough stuff.

Another major update is the new community upgrades that can be purchased from Robin, the carpenter. The first is the fact that you can build Pam, the bus driver, a new house and get her out of her trailer. It is an expensive upgrade, but well worth it in the late game when your farm is at its most successful.

The thread is also working to chronicle the various bugs that players have encountered and which ones have been acknowledged by the developers. This is a good reminder that beta versions are inherently unstable and it is always a good idea to back up your save files.

It will be interesting to see exactly how all of this plays out in the full version of the update and to get a full list of all the new features from the developers themselves. Until then, the internet will continue to do their best to figure it out, and we will continue to follow all the news surrounding this update as it happens.
