HoYoverse pulled back the curtain at gamescom 2025 with the first in-game look at Flins, the newest character coming to Genshin Impact, alongside a showcase of Nod-Krai, the next major region to join the world of Teyvat. Fans both on-site and online are getting their first glimpse of what’s shaping up to be one of the biggest annual updates in the game’s history.
The reveal trailer, titled A Lantern in the Night, introduced Flins as a Lightkeeper warrior facing down the dangers of the Wild Hunt. It marked not only the character’s debut but also the beginning of a fresh chapter in the main storyline that will unite factions from across the game’s expanding world. The art style at the very beginning is unlike Genshin’s typical art style, distorted, pale, and deeply ominous. Even the monsters are horrific, headless creatures that clash with the game’s established world, suggesting that the newest update might be a large change in tone.
Gamescom attendees can dive deeper into the update at Hall 6, Booth C031, where Genshin Impact has built its first offline booth experience centered on Nod-Krai. The booth offers more than just a preview of the new region. Players can participate in an interactive challenge helping Flins battle the Wild Hunt, enjoy cosplay and live music performances, and pick up exclusive merchandise. Even the HoYoverse Café makes an appearance with limited-edition items on the menu. Fans not attending in person can follow the action through Rocket Beans TV’s live coverage direct from the show floor.
The booth will remain open from August 20 to 24, supported by UGREEN and HOLY, and will welcome visitors with Nod-Krai-themed activities. Elsewhere at gamescom, players can also stop by the Samsung booth in Hall 9 to try the game’s current version on PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile, including the latest summer-themed events and maps.
Now in its fifth year at gamescom, Genshin Impact continues to expand its global presence while keeping fans engaged through both its in-game updates and its on-site celebrations. Flins’ introduction and the unveiling of Nod-Krai stand as the highlights of this year’s showcase, giving fans a look at where the Traveler’s story is heading next.
