Genshin Impact’s world expanded once again today with the launch of Nod-Krai, the game’s seventh major region and centerpiece of Version Luna I: A Dance of Snowy Tides and Hoarfrost Groves. The update coincides with the game’s fifth anniversary, bringing with it new storylines, characters, features, and generous rewards for players, according to a press release.

The new Archon Quest takes players into Nod-Krai immediately after completing Liyue’s main questline. Here, tensions rise as the Fatui Harbinger known as Marionette tightens her grip on the region, while a deeper plot to claim the moon’s power begins to surface. Alongside this overarching conflict, players will encounter new allies and old companions alike, including Lauma of the Frostmoon Scions, Flins of the Wild Hunt, and Columbina, who has returned to her birthplace and is revered as the Moon Maiden. Nasha Town serves as a lively hub for many of these encounters.

Three characters from Nod-Krai join the roster. Lauma, a 5-star Catalyst user, introduces the Lunar-Bloom Reaction with her Dendro abilities. Flins, another 5-star, wields a Polearm to unleash Lunar-Charged strikes infused with Electro. Aino, a 4-star Claymore wielder, can be recruited for free during the new Archon Quest and plays a role in the story as the inventor behind the Knuckle Duckle. The new Meeting Points feature also offers quieter moments with these characters, allowing players to witness day-to-day interactions and deepen bonds beyond combat.

The update includes unique environmental features tied to each new character. Lauma’s connection to the Frostmoon Scions is reflected in how they bow in her presence, while her affinity with animals can yield resources and healing. Flins’ lantern alerts players to approaching members of the Wild Hunt, and Aino’s inventive streak creates special interactions with her mechanical creations. Together, these details expand the lived-in feel of the world.

To celebrate the anniversary, players will receive a free 5-star character from the Standard Wish, 1,600 Primogems, 10 Intertwined Fates, and two special Nod-Krai-themed gadgets, along with the necessary materials to level the chosen 5-star to 60. Anniversary festivities also extend outside of the game through HoYoFair’s Fan Art Special Program, a two-hour broadcast of animated shorts, music, and community-created works premiering on September 20. Notable highlights include new chapters from fan-favorite creators, an official theme song performance by ReoNa, and a special appearance by Japanese voice actors performing together in an animated band sequence.

Version Luna I also introduces crossover content with Among Us. From September 11 to October 11, players of Innersloth’s social deduction game can unlock a free Paimon Cosmetic Set featuring a wig, costume, and nameplate.

The Nod-Krai expansion marks another milestone for Genshin Impact, which continues to build on its foundation with major updates each year. By adding new regions, mechanics, and community celebrations, the game enters its fifth year with momentum and no signs of slowing down.
