Allegations against Elliot Gindi, the English voice actor for a recently added Genshin Impact character Tighnari, surfaced recently by the moderators of the actor’s Twitch channel and Discord server. These allegations came in the form of screenshots and chatlogs of victims accusing Gindi of alleged predatory behavior against underaged individuals, emotional manipulation, transphobic behavior, and sexual indecent exposure during streams, all posted to Twitter by two of Gindi’s moderators FretCore and phiotan.
Gindi has since confirmed these screenshots within a Twitlonger post, admitting and apologizing for his manipulative behavior. However, Gindi denies allegedly inappropriately interacting with underage individuals, and engaging in transphobic behavior. Additionally, Gindi denied allegedly exposing himself sexually on stream saying that, while he did stream in his boxers often, it wasn’t with sexual intent in mind. Regardless, the voice actor has since left his social media channels.
The reactions to these allegations were explosive across Twitter, with many fans and other Genshin voice actors denouncing Gindi’s actions.
Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse released their own statement towards the allegations to Gamesradar+.
“We deeply regret the harm and damage that happened to our fans, gamers, community and anyone affected. Both our internal teams and external partners including our voice acting studio have been working together on an urgent solution. And we will keep you posted on the progress.”
While it’s likely Gindi will no longer be working with HoYoverse, it’s unknown what HoYoverse has in store for the character he plays.
