Developer miHoYo has announced that their Genshin Impact 5.8 update titled ‘Sunspray Summer Resort’ is set for release on July 30.

In a release shared by Gematsu, miHoYo shares that update 5.8 adds the new story quest called Sunspray Summer Resort, which brings players to a summer island area off Natlan’s western coast. Returning characters include Bennett, Chasca, Mualani, and Venti. During exploration, players will be helped by Asha, a cheerful mascot who grants movement boosts and painting powers to unlock puzzles around the island.

The title’s setting, the Easybreeze Holiday Resort, includes exclusive seasonal events. These include activities like where players will lead creatures in ‘Travels Are Fuller With Friends’, and shooting targets in ‘Strikers Through the Storm’. Players can earn Sunspray Spirit to unlock rewards, including the 4-star Claymore Flame-Forged Insight and a new outfit for Bennett, Adventures in Blazing Hue. The update also begins a new story arc called Song of the Welkin Moon introducing Ineffa, a robot built by a Nod-Krai inventor.

Ineffa is a new main draw of the update, a five-star Electro polearm user. She changes standard Electro-Charged reactions into Lunar-Charged, which creates a Thundercloud that deals continuous AoE Electro damage and can deal crit. She can also summon Birgitta, a support drone that attacks enemies and adds extra damage if the Thundercloud is nearby. Her skill kit includes a shield and field control.

Genshin’s limited-time banners, or ‘Event Wishes’ include Ineffa and a rerun of Citlali. With a follow up phase of Mualani and Chasca. Yelan will receive a new outfit, Tranquil Banquet, and a side story involving stealth mechanics and a photography tool that reveals hidden clues.

Version 5.8 also includes character tutorials and videos found on the Talent and Trial pages, Quest time now auto-adjusts now with a button press, resource tracking has also been updated to show who can detect region-specific items.

Genshin Impact 5.8  ‘Sunspray Summer Resort’ will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, iOS and Android.
