General Manager Casey Hudson Talks About How Anthem Began And It’s Future Ahead Of The Demo’s Release

Bioware’s General Manager, Casey Hudson, has written a new blog post discussing Anthem and how it is set to release in one month. In the post, he discusses the early days of Anthem and what the team at Bioware wanted to do with the game. He talks about why they decided to create an online game and what players can expect from the game when it launches. He also teased that Bioware will soon be discussing plans for the future of the game, which is a very important aspect in a multiplayer-oriented game such as Anthem and the other games like it.

When Anthem was being conceived in 2012, Casey says that the idea for the game was that “we wanted to create a whole new fictional universe, full of Bioware quality story and character.” Their idea for Anthem also included the idea that it was “an experience you could share with friends”. Bioware was also intrigued by the idea that the story will continue and take place in a “world where things are happening right now, as these types of games do.”

Casey goes into some details about the challenges that the team at Bioware and Anthem would face. “Often, the nature of online multiplayer games tends to fight story agency and interesting character interactions.” Anthem was designed to fight against that nature. Casey explains that “with Anthem, we aim to integrate the fun of multiplayer missions with your friends, and single-player story agency and characters, into a connected narrative experience – set in a world designed to be always changing, and where anything is possible”.

Anthem is set to launch with a lot of content. One of the main things is the main narrative that will introduce its players to the world and the characters that inhabit it. Casey Hudson mentions that players are a critical element of Anthem. He asks to let him and the team at Bioware know if there is something that you think should be fixed or adjusted. He also teases that the team will unveil how Anthem will be supported going forward. “Soon, we will reveal more about our plans for how we intend to support that ongoing stream of content and features.”

Anthem‘s VIP demo launches on January 25 and will last the weekend. It’s available for those who either pre-ordered the game or are a part of EA or Origin Access. The open demo will launch on February 1 and last that weekend. The open demo is available for everyone. Anthem launches February 22 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Those who are a part of either Access service can start playing the game on February 15.
