Gears 5 isn’t launching until later this year, but the Coalition is giving players the chance to check out some of the game’s multiplayer features early. The developer has announced more details on the technical test periods for the game and how players that are interested can take part in them. In regards to whose eligible, all Xbox Game Pass members are able to take part within the test for additional charge. The tests will be available for both Xbox One and PC players.
As far as the client for the beta it will be available for download on July 17 at 10 PM PT, however, the servers won’t be immediately online at that time. The first of the multiple test will kick off on July 19 at 10 AM PT and will run untilJuly 21. The second test will then take place just a few days later on July 26 at 10 AM PT and will be ending on July 29. The test will include the following multiplayer modes for players to try out for themselves:
- Escalation — the refreshed competitive mode
- Arcade — the new, “approachable” mode
- King of the Hill — you know what this is
- Bootcamp — a place to practice skills and learn the mechanics
Also the Coalition added that players might have to wait a bit before jumping into matches due to queues. “Because this Tech Test is to help test our servers, you might encounter some queueing as you start to play. We hope to make Gears 5 a great online experience for all players and Xbox Game Pass members on launch, and this Tech Test will help.” A new event called The Tour of Duty, will also be apart of the test.
The event is made up of a series of challenges that can give players bonus content such as Tech Test banner. Players will also have the chance to win up to three versus weapons skins by completing some “additional challenges.” In addition to this, another beta set to a test for Horde Mode is slated for sometime this August although no concrete dates have been confirmed at this time. Gears 5 will officially launch for the Xbox One and PC September 10.
