Garden Souls, a 2D Action-Adventure Game, Has Been Announced

One of the most reliable ways that developers keep games from becoming boring is through the addition of technically complex mechanics that take practice and experimentation to optimally implement. This phenomenon dates back to 2D combat games with a heavy emphasis on combo moves, the key aspect of the recently announced Garden Souls, an action-adventure title by Statera Studios. The new trailer gives a small look into the world and combat that players can look forward to when the game releases.

The trailer starts off bombastically, showing off a variety of special moves that one of the main characters can unleash. To maximize the variety of combos that players are able to create, they will be offered different options for moves as they progress through the game. The Steam page mentions this as a reason why players may come back to the game to experiment with options they haven’t tried yet. The ultimate goal of the combos is to trap enemies in a vulnerable state such as while they’re airborne while inflicting massive damage.

Later in the trailer, it is revealed that players will also be able to infuse their attacks with elemental effects or summon minions to fight alongside them. Further adding to the amount players will have the chance to learn are the four different playable princesses who each have a unique way of fighting. To finish a run, players will encounter bosses, minibosses, and shops before getting the chance to earn a permanent reward that will follow them to future runs of the game.

Garden Souls has provided potential players with a chaotic trailer and list of features that offer a lot of room for exploration. Once a certain playstyle is mastered, players will be able to continue their mastery or move on to further explore the game’s options. Garden Souls has been announced to come on PC.
