“The Xenia continue to wage war against the human race” in Turok: Origins. First announced at The Game Awards in 2024, Turok: Origins was among several games to host their world premier trailers during Gamescom Opening Night Live. This trailer proudly announced that the game is available to wishlist, and will be released sometime next Spring.
Fighting off “dinosaurs and a terrifying alien threat [Xenia] that seek to destroy all human life across the galaxy,” players take on the role of the “legendary Turok Warriors.” These fights happen across multiple different planets, and can be challenging, as “players must use everything at their disposal to ensure success, including melee attacks, special abilities, and fine-tuned weapons.” Warriors do not have to fight alone, however. Though there is an option for single player gameplay, players are encouraged to find a group to play with in multiplayer mode.
If one fight seems difficult, even with help, players have the option to “unlock and upgrade [their] advanced weaponry to dominate battles and neutralize enemies.” These weapons include Plasma rifles, ray guns, snipers, bows, shotguns, and more,” and are all at the disposal of the player.
Aside from weapons, players are also given the option to engage in biological warfare. This is an indirect threat where warriors “Extract DNA from fallen foes and the environment to unlock game-changing powers.” This DNA has the capabilities to “evolve [their] suits in real-time.” Not only does “each DNA power enhance look,” it “also offers upgradeable skills and abilities to give [players] an edge in combat.”
The development team at Saber Interactive warn that “this game may contain content not appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work: Frequent Violence or Gore, General Mature Content.” Therefore, Turok: Origins has an official rating of PEGI 16 (16+). This game is planned to be released for multiple platforms, including Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Steam for PC.
