Gamescom Digital Event Plans Detailed

After announcing that Gamescom 2020 will be taking place as digital event earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of the event have revealed what to expect from the show now taking place from August 27-30. The official press release reads: “Since the world’s largest event for computer and video games cannot take place on location in Cologne this year due to the corona pandemic, digital formats and platforms are therefore being continually expanded. From August 27 to 30, there will be lots of new shows, a greatly expanded Gamescom now platform as a content hub for all the latest insights and news, and digital devcom’s wide-ranging program for game developers and other trade visitors as well as so much more.

Gamescom now, which launched last year will be significantly expanded and is the first go-to source for all world premieres, news, games, and events. All of the event’s shows can be seen on the hub as well as other aspects that pertain to content creators, esports, cosplay, indies, and merchandise.

Gamescom Opening Night Live with Geoff Keighley kicks off Gamescom 2020 on August 27. It also marks the end of the Summer Game Fest, a four-month-long industry-wide celebration of video games that was also developed and put together by Keighley. New shows include Gamescom: Awesome Indies where news and announcements will be shared about the most anticipated indie titles, Gamescom: Daily Show will go through all of the news and announcements that will be revealed on a daily basis, in Gamescom Studio, developers will be interviewed, Gamescom ends its three-day digital event with Gamescom: Best of Show, an award show that will have a summary of the highlights of this year’s Gamescom. Taking place starting on August 17-30, the devcom digital conference will have lots of talks that trade visitors can access with more variety of talks, shows or masterclasses for game developers all year round in the future.
