An official reveal trailer for GRAVHOUNDS was highlighted today at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. It is an action roguelike developed by Octopus Panic, where players are dropped into a hostile planet and must defend their base. Players can choose to take on this challenge alone or with up to four other players.
The fighting will increase intensity as players continue to stay on the planet, but the risk comes with greater rewards. There are five playable characters to choose from: Zane, Dozer, Selene, Finn, and Luna. Each Gravhound has their own unique strengths and abilities for players to experiment with in battle.
The official reveal trailer highlights the game’s mechincs, various weapons, and utilities that can be employed while on the planet. Players are thrown into a lush environment, where a swarm of enemies charge at them from all sides. On the planet, players will be able to terraform, deploy generators, and extend pipelines to power their base. Some of the base equipment shown in the trailer includes turrets, which are useful to defend their base against the swarm.
Players will be able to unlock new abilities and upgrades during their battle. This means that players can customize their loadout to adapt to their enemies, growing stronger as they do. However, the choices players make will change the type of threats they will face in their next shift.
GRAVHOUNDS is scheduled for early access sometime this year for PC players via Steam and console players via their platform’s store page. There are also playtests available for players to join. Those interested can request access via the game’s Steam page.
Octopus Panic is a small, seven person, development team that have been working on the game for three years. Despite their small team, it is clear that the team is passionate about their work as the playable characters each have unique voice actors.
