Publisher of Dead Island 2, Deep Silver, released the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming first-person zombie hack-and-slash/shooter at Gamescom 2014, yesterday. This trailer takes its place beside a cinematic trailer previously released at this years E3 convention. Those eager to ironically dismember appendages and desecrate cerebral cortices of those who dismember appendages and desecrate cerebral cortices can now see the mechanics and aesthetics behind their next prospective outlet.
Like its predecessors, — Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide — Dead Island 2 utilizes a formula of customizable melee weapons and firearms to slice, shoot, and smash the virulent undead. Unlike these titles, however, the third main entry in the Dead Island series takes place in a quarantined California, as opposed to the fictional Banoi Island setting of the prior titles. As another major difference between the upcoming installment and the previous two, the game is developed by German studio, YAGER, instead of Polish studio, Techland, who is currently developing fellow undead-themed next-gen title Dying Light.
Dead Island 2 is set to release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC in spring 2015. It features eight-person multiplayer, where gamers can co-operate, compete, or move to the beat of their own drum (magazine).
Gamescom attendees can flock by the hordes to a hands-on showcase for the RPG-sprinkled action game at the Deep Silver booth: Hall 9.1, B11/C10. Those who are out of reach can visit the game’s website (there is an age gate). The gory gameplay trailer is found below, and the earlier cinematic trailer can be viewed here.
