Gamescom 2014: Far Cry 4 Gets Two New Trailers; PlayStation Owners Get “Keys”

During their showcase at Gamescom 2014, Ubisoft included two new trailers for the impending release of the action-adventure game, Far Cry 4. The first trailer, “Glimpse into Kyrat,” introduces a new depth into the volatile world of Kyrat, a fictional area of the Himalayans, where the native protagonist is caught in between a civil war. The second trailer, “Keys to Kyrat,” showcases a co-operative mode where “keys” can be given to from owners of the game to players who do not own Far Cry 4, so they can play a timed trial of the game. The keys are exclusive to PlayStation 3 and 4 owners.

“Glimpse into Kyrat” features gameplay from the single-player story in Far Cry 4. It shows action taking place on the snow-laden mountains of the Himalayan. Players will fight exotic animals and militant soldiers, as well as traverse the arduous landscape and escape intense avalanches. Snowmobiles and wingsuits are available to assist in the latter.

The game also features an area of Kyrat, Shangri-Là, which runs in a parallel universe. The displayed area is heavily based on folklore and mythology. Mythical enemies, such as the tribal-styled ones presented in the “Glimpse into Kyrat” trailer, attempt to end the player’s journey, indefinitely. The player, however, will form allegiance with a majestic white tiger, who aids in combat. A Shangri-Là bow is available to wield from the main character’s arsenal. This bow can slow time, as well as do damage to enemies.

“Keys to Kyrat” includes co-op gameplay footage. Those who purchase a new copy of Far Cry 4 for PS3 or PS4 will receive 10 of these keys. Each key gives a Far Cry-less partner access to a two-hour free trial of the game, over the PlayStation Network. With these keys, they can explore the world, capture outposts, and earn rewards in it.

The “Keys to Kyrat” trailer can be found below, while the “Glimpse into Kyrat” trailer is found above. More information can be found at the game’s website. Far Cry 4 is scheduled to launch worldwide Nov. 18, this year, for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
