The official Game Awards Twitter account has just announced that the Game Of The Year nominees will be revealed on November 13th, with the actual show happening on December 7th. This is very exciting as 2023 has easily been regarded as one of the best years for the industry. Unlike years past, there is really no solid answer or favorite for the Game Of The Year award this year. While previous years have also been incredible, it’s always gone down to either a blatantly obvious choice or a close two-horse race. Let’s take a deeper look into the potential nominees in this year’s stacked class.

Now as previously mentioned, past years have been quite easy to guess who would win the prestigious award, such as Elden Ring beating God Of War Ragnarok last year, Breath Of The Wild Back in 2017, and 2019’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. But this year it’s anyone’s guess with many studios coming back and deciding to all drop masterpieces consecutively in the same year. The majority of people thought that Nintendo would once again have the award locked down with Tears Of The Kingdom, but that was all the way back in May. Since then Larian Studios dropped another major contender Baldur’s Gate 3, FromSoftware released the epic Armored Core 6, and Insomniac dropped one of the most exciting sequels ever with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Other titles that players predict will be nominated are Sea Of Stars, Lies Of P, and Super Mario Bros Wonder.
Among these titles there are some clearer favorites such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Tears Of The Kingdom. But to add even more to how crazy this year has been Remedy recently released the critically acclaimed Alan Wake 2, which is gaining a surprising amount of traction with some even predicting that it will win not just the Game Of The Year, but will almost sweep the awards. Time will tell but this year’s award show might actually be worth watching compared to previous years.
