Game Breaking Glitch Makes Knights Of The Old Republic Switch Version Unplayable

As we await its future remake, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II found new life among the Nintendo Switch platform, taking fans young and old back in time, to face the old legends within Star Wars lore. On June 8, 2022 its DLC, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, re-released for Switch to the excitement of long-time fans. Unfortunately for the game developers, problems arose not long after its release; A game-breaking glitch has rendered the game unplayable. As reported by IGN earlier this week Aspyr Media, the developer for Knights Of The Old Republic II, put out statement on their support site after an influx of player reports:

We’ve received player reports of a game crash occurring after the Basilisk Crash cutscene when landing on Onderon.

This is a known issue and will be addressed in the next patch…

We are currently investigating workarounds for this issue and will update this article with any new information and patch dates as we get them. You can click the “follow” button at the top of this article if you would like to be notified when we make any changes.

Later on Monday, June 20, 2022, Aspyr Media followed up on the glitch in an exchange on Twitter, confirming that due to the glitch there was no way of completing the game. Aspyr Media assured players that the game devs were working diligently to fix the game-breaking bug with a fix that was sure to come with the next game update. There is no set date for the upcoming update, but Aspyr Media assured further in the Twitter exchange that the update would arrive as soon as it was able.

Glitches have the potential to either elevate or hinder a gaming experience and unfortunately for Aspyr Media, this situation is the former. While we await the fix in the next update, keep a lookout for updates on Aspyr Media’s official Twitter page.
