In what seems like a tragedy inspired romance story, developer Don’t Nod’s Banishers: Ghost of New Eden looks to bring a supernatural spin on the world of video games.
From the small snippets we’ve seen from the preview, Banishers looks to have you play as both a male and female character, two lovers, as they wander through a supernatural world exorcising spirits as the male lead seemingly looks to free his beloved from the grasp of demons, ghosts, spirits, and spectres using action adventure gameplay. The main characters are shown parrying and dodging, as well as traversing what may be an open world. The male main character is equipped with two magic swords while the female, seemingly being dead, is shown using ghost-like supernatural powers to dash at foes at deal damage with them.
It’s also shown that the two characters can be on screen at the same time, potentially having co-op or at least an AI partner to help you as you fight otherworldly threats. This mix of horror and action adventure is something that hasn’t been seen for some time, so it’ll certainly be interesting to see how Banishers melds the tense atmosphere of the horror genre with the pulse-pounding action of an action adventure.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden will be releasing on February 13, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.
