A few weeks ago Insomniac’s Marvel’s The Wolverine was leaked following a hacker attack, with several set-pieces and fights from a very early version making their way online. Footage included a large fight against The Hand ninjas which was Wolverine fly around the arena and brutally kill his enemies, and the other showed a more laid-back scenario, with Wolverine using his heightened sense of scent to track Mystique, an X-Men villain, and investigate an apartment looking for clues to solve his amnesia, which will likely be the crucial plot hook of the game. Now, as revealed on Reddit, there have been a few more leaks to Marvel’s The Wolverine to look at.
Insomniac’s Wolverine leak confirms real time damage and regeneration and many more…

As shown above, there are a few features shown here that many will expect, such as the 60FPS framerate and high-quality facial animations, this is Insomniac after all, who are widely praised as an AAA studio with high-quality graphical fidelity. Something that many people will be relieved to hear, however, is that Wolverine will have regenerating health. Regenerating health is a relic of the past, and many games try to move past it, but it has always made sense for the star X-Man as that’s one of the key powers in his arsenal so the ability to regenerate is actually a welcoming one, especially in wake of rumors that you’d have to craft items like medkits, rumors that were met with confusion considering the subject matter. But you’ll also note that right next to the regenerating health is the term “real-time damage” and in another Reddit thread we’ll see exactly what they mean by that.
As shown, it looks like there will be some consequences for letting yourself get too damaged as you play. Consequences to your face, at least. The model damage in the video is pretty gnarly, showing entire chunks of Wolverine’s body torn off with bits of rib-sticking out and even the entirety of the skin on his hand missing. All these details are really great conceptually, and if executed properly it looks like we’ll finally have a game where you can really experience what it’s like to be everyone’s favorite angry blasted skeleton mutant man in video game form for the first time in a long time.
