Everyone’s favorite survival simulator is back! 11 Bit Studios has officially announced Frostpunk 2, a full-fledged sequel to the 2018 critically acclaimed survival game Frostpunk. The studio also unveiled a brief announcement trailer, which gives us a bit of detail of the current state of the world as well as a very eerie cinematic. Frostpunk 2 will take place roughly 30 years after the original’s storyline where the player will once again have to try and keep their civilization alive through an ice age.

The trailer depicts a seriously dark tone of the world, showing that nothing has really changed since the previous entry. The scene starts off by moving around an icy terrain that leads to what looked like an uprising by the civilization and leads to a bloody revolt. The trailer ends with what looks like the leader from the previous society bound and dead frozen in the snow with the word “Liar” carved into his chest. No gameplay was shown here, but the scene offers a bold and much darker take on an already grim landscape.
As we already mentioned, the game is a sequel to 2018’s Frostpunk, which went onto be well received by nearly every outlet imaginable. Frostpunk sold more than 250 thousand copies in just under three days, making it one of the most successful titles that year. The game also went onto be nominated for several awards at the end of the year, including The Game Awards 2018. No concrete release date was given for Frosptunk 2, but considering it was just announced, it’s safe to assume that it’ll probably be a while until 11 Bit Studios has any more information on that subject. You can check out the official game page on Steam and even add it to your wish list. For the time being, it looks like the game is only confirmed for the PC platform, as there has been no word on whether it will come to consoles.
