A rocket has launched and rifts have been opening, Fortnite is making a lot of new changes in Season 5. This update makes major aesthetic changes to the game’s customization, gameplay, and a new location!
July 12 marks the Season 5 update for Fortnite. This includes a new battlepass, the progression system to gain new in-game vanity items, challenges, and experience boosts. The season splash art prominently features some of the character outfits this update has to offer:
- Ninjas – the blonde masked man resembles an outfit similar to the Anbu Black Op forces from the anime Naruto. Both male an female characters bear a similar resemblance with the white animal mask.
- Vikings – A female character resembling a crossover between Astrid from the How to Train Your Dragon Movies and the Television series Vikings.
- Special Forces – A well-bearded character with heavy resemblance to Blackbeard from Rainbow Six Siege.
Each Skin includes it’s own matching glider and pickaxe, as well as a series of new dances, emotes, and sprays that can be earned during the course of the season in the battlepass. Many players who faced difficulty in the previous seasons grinding and completing challenges will now have a better chance of reaching level 100. Free players can now access the weekly challenges sans the last four. Alongside this players can now complete challenges progressively via season XP instead of player level.
Beyond cosmetics, the game also have a plethora of changes made to gameplay; there is a new vehicle. After the popularity and comedic adventures of the shopping cart, players can drive around the All Terrain Kart (ATK). Much like the shopping cart, the ATK is a multi-person effort where players can make the kart jump via leaning from the back. However, this new vehicle can be used to traverse the new map.
Similar to the game’s major rival, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, the game includes a new desert themed area, replacing the Moisty Mire drop zone. This update also includes a plethora of a new portal mechanic which will teleport players high into the air, and it will give players a new way to strategize their way to a Victory Royale.
A new season is a new opportunity for the community to learn, have fun, and get some victorious bragging rights.
