Fortnite Launches New Game Mode Fortnite Reload

On Saturday, June 22, Epic Games launched their brand new Battle Royale game mode Fortnite Reload. The new mode, similar to Call of Duty: Warzone’s Resurgence mode, features a smaller map and 40-person lobbies, making matches faster and more action-packed. The new game mode also brings iconic locations like Tilted Towers back to the game, as well as old-school items and new quests.

Fortnite Reload can be played in either Battle Royale or Zero Build, and allows only 4-person squads for fill or no-fill matchmaking. In an announcement post on the Fortnite website, the developers of the game laid out the basic rules for the new mode:

  • When eliminated, a player’s individual reboot timer starts. The player reboots at the end of the timer!
  • Reboot timers begin at 30 seconds and scale up to 40 seconds later in the match.
  • Remaining teammates can reduce reboot timers by 2 seconds by downing an opponent, 4 seconds by eliminating one, and 10 seconds by wiping an opposing squad.
  • When downed, players can opt to start their reboot timer right away instead of waiting for a revive.
  • Towards the end of the match, reboots will stop, meaning lost teammates will no longer return.

The new Fortnite Reload Island does not feature any drivable vehicles, but it does bring in a collection of unvaulted loot, including the Revolver, Tactical Shotgun, Tactical Submachine Gun, Infantry Rifle, Rocket Launcher, and Grappler. The new map also features remixed versions of iconic locations from past Fortnite seasons such as Lil’ Loot Lake and Lone Lodge, in addition to full-scale returns of Tilted Towers, Retail Row, and Pleasant Park.

Fortnite Reload also comes with new intro quests, awarding 20,000 XP each and awarding players with new items with more completed with quests. The Digital Dogfight Contrail, Pool Cubes Wrap, and Nana Bath Back Bling are given to players at three, six, and nine intro quests completed, respectively.

Players that achieve a Victory Royale in the new Fortnite Reload mode will unlock the new Rezzbrella Glider, seen below.
