Travis Scott’s virtual concert on Fortnite is one of many in a series of virtual tours that spill over into the weekend, with a total of five more shows in the future. Thanks to developer Epic Games, this is one of many plans to bring the online game into something bigger while people are in quarantine thanks to Coronavirus. At the same time as having a concert at the tip of your fingertips, others have reported one of the major downfalls of this show to be short, and some would even call it under 10 minutes. Another downfall of the show is that Travis Scott was not actually apart of the concert, but rather it was a mixture of both his old and new songs.
During the opening of the show, a giant Travis Scott moved around on the island where players spawn. As the list of songs went on, the giant Scott turned into a cyborg and made everyone look like they were in a flashing light show fantasy. When one of his most popular songs “Highest in the Room” played, everyone was then submerged underwater along with rollercoasters and other visual effects.
Epic Games also made some more developments to heighten other player’s experiences in the concert. Firstly they limited the types of emotes that people could use, only letting people headbang and rage with a microphone stand on fire, but one upside is that people did not have to actually pre-own those emotes. Along with this experience, players will also have access to an Astroworld Cyclone Glider and two new loading screens. Another addition is a Travis Scott skin, costing fans 1,500 V-Bucks (about $15 USD) and a large Astronomical Bundle, which will cost fans somewhere around 3,500 V-Bucks (or 35$ USD). Along with Fortnite, many other games are making modifications to keep fans entertained while they stay quarantined at home.
