The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed Cowabunga event has begun for Epic Games’ Fortnite, adding new weapons, quests, and cosmetics.
The Fortnite Twitter account released a trailer for the event, showing off some gameplay for each of the four new Legendary weapons and the new Shredder skin.
The new weapons added with the update were detailed in a blog post, and include Leonardo’s Katanas, Raphael’s Sai, Michaelangelo’s Nunchaku, and Donatello’s Staff. Each of them comes with a standard attack, aerial attack, dash attack, and double jump, though the stats for each vary by weapon.
Driftboards and Pizza Party boxes are also making a return for more movement and healing options, this time with unique TMNT-themed looks.
The event also comes with two tiers of limited-time reward tracks, Free and Premium. Each contains 11 cosmetic rewards, and the Premium Reward Track is purchasable for 1,000 V-bucks, which translates to $7.99.
The Free Reward Track includes emotes, Fortnite Festival gear, a loading screen, and the Turtle Blimp Glider. The Premium track provides immediate access to the new Shredder skin, with the final reward upgrading the Turtle’s nemesis to the Super Shredder skin. Each of these has a corresponding Lego Fortnite skin.
To progress through these reward tracks, a series of Cowabunga Quests will be added in six waves. These quests reward players with Ooze, the nuclear goop that caused the turtles to be transformed from the norm. The first wave of quests is live now, with a new one being added every three days until Feb. 24. Completing the first five quests in each phase will give access to the Krang Back Bling, based on another of the Turtle’s reoccurring foes.
Splinter, the Turtles’ mentor and adoptive father, has also been added as a skin for Fortnite and Lego Fortnite, and will be present in the shop alongside the returning four Turtles and April O’Neil.
The Cowabunga event will run from now until Feb. 27.
