Evil Empire Ends Development On Dead Cells

Development on Dead Cells is officially over according to game developer Evil Empire. The announcement came late Friday morning on the developer’s official Twitter/X account shortly after Dead Cells35th update, thanking its fanbase for their support as they move onto future projects.

“We will really miss working on Dead Cells and in particular we will miss the amazing community. Making new content with you and seeing your reactions to some of our wilder additions have been a blast, even if we weren’t always perfect. On that note, we’re sorry for any broken controllers caused by the Derelict Distillery…”

Evil Empire began as a branch of Motion Picture primarily dedicated towards everything Dead Cells. Since it’s in 2019, Evil Empire produced non-stop updates for the 2D roguelike metrovania game. Five years later, it seems that their work is complete.

Fans were quick to show their thanks and appreciation towards the Evil Empire team on X/Twitter following it’s announcement.

With development on Dead Cells ending, Evil Empire will now be moving on to their unannounced projects. Currently, it’s unknown that those projects entail but if the developer’s hint is to be believed, fans could be getting an update some time soon.

Dead Cells is currently available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
