French publisher Focus Home Interactive officially has a brand new name. The company has announced that they’re rebranding into Focus Home Entertainment, effective immediately. In their announcement post, the publisher states that the main reason behind this is to make themselves more globally aware in terms of marketing. The post states that the term Entertainment is a “representative of the desire to diversify its games, products, services and revenue streams.”
Focus Home Entertainment also went onto say that they will also emphasize on “ambition to offer players around the world unique experiences.” This is more than likely referring to their ever-expanding library of IPs. This is in turn is also thanks to some of the studios that they’ve acquired over the years. Their most recent acquisition came just last month with Dotemu, who developed the very successful Streets of Rage 4 that released last year. They’re also currently working on Metal Slug Tactics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and Windjammers 2.
All of those titles are highly anticipated, and Windjammers 2 is expected to release later this year. Focus Home Entertainment also has Deck 13 under their umbrella, who are the developers of The Surge franchise. Other future titles set to release this year for Focus Home Entertainment include World War Z: Aftermath, which includes all of the content from the Game of the Year edition. They’ve also got A Plague Tale: Requiem launching in 2022, which is the anticipated sequel to the highly acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence.
With so many IPs and studios now under their system, it’s not a huge surprise that Focus Home Entertainment made the name change. We also wouldn’t be surprised to see them attempt to gather some more developers and bring them under their umbrella in the foreseeable future.
