The Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise shows no signs of slowing down even as the year comes to an end. In July, the free Ruin DLC for 2021’s Security Breach released, while last month finally saw the release of the long-awaited Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, which was stuck in development hell for over eight years. Now, FNAF fans can expect to play Help Wanted 2 just in time for the holidays.
Developed by Steel Wool Games, their Executive Producer, Ray McCaffery, announced in a PlayStation Blog post that Help Wanted 2 will launch for the PS VR2 December 14, 2023, a bit earlier than the original “late December” date.
Along with the release date, Steel Wool Games also provided a gameplay trailer for a look at what players can experience in VR. Help Wanted 2 will have six categories for minigames–Backstage, Fazcade, Staff Only, Food Prep, Ticket Booth and a special, reimagined VR version of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location if you’re up to the challenge of surviving till 6 AM while keeping Funtime Freddy busy and fixing the crumbling pizzeria. Seriously, someone needs to hire an actual repairman for that place.
McCaffery stated that the main goal for Help Wanted 2 was to make every replay fun. Now, players can expect no two minigames will be completely identical as there’s an overwhelming amount of possibilities added into the game. Even if it’s your twentieth time making Roxanne Wolf glam-tastic for the stage, or you’ve enjoyed Captain Foxy’s Cowboy Adventure enough to go on it for dozens of rides, you’ll still be unsure if you’re just paranoid or if the animatronics look a little more threatening than last time.
The game’s predecessor, Help Wanted, released in 2021. Advertised as “The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience,” players can experience forty minigames inspired by other mainline FNAF entries. McCaffery assured players that “more than a few” of the minigames in the sequel have the spirit of the original while still being able to hold its own.
