Insominac’s Wolverine Reportedly Won’t Launch Until Sometime in 2025

It looks like we’re going to be waiting a while before we see an official release for Insomniac’s upcoming superhero title Wolverine. According to a well known leaker, Daniel Richtman, which was sourced to Inside Gaming, the title is not set to be released in 2024, as many originally thought. Instead, it appears that it could potentially launch sometime in 2025. Other specific details were also leaked about the game, including the location as well as Wolverine going for a “darker” tone and will be “more violent” than any other Insomniac game.

As for the location, the Richtman states that Wolverine will take place in Madripoor, a city in Southeast Asia. This location doesn’t come as a huge shocker as we’ve seen it used before within both the Marvel universe as well as the X-Men series. It was also featured prominently in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier show on Disney+. Given that this is a Wolverine game, which features the titular hero known for his violent tendencies, we’d fully expect it to be heavily emphasized with some more mature and darker themes as opposed to other Insomniac titles.

This is especially made evident by a report from earlier this year that the studio is targeting an M for Mature rating from the ESRB. This was also the same report that mentioned the game could come out as early as 2024, although that no longer appears to be the case. Considering that Insomniac just launched Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to critical acclaim, it’s not that surprising to hear that Wolverine still has a ways to go before they consider it ready for the masses. Either way, knowing the studio’s track record, the title will more than likely be worth the wait. In the meantime, we’ll just keep enjoying Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
