With a new announcement trailer publisher THQ Nordic and developer Paraglacial have revealed their first-person action RPG Fatekeeper. Gematsu reports the title is set to launch on PC, in Steam’s Early Access this winter.
Fatekeeper is set in a dark fantasy world that includes ancient battlegrounds, forgotten ruins, mystical forests, vast underground caverns, and crumbling sanctuaries. Players will customize their unique character across combat styles, attributes, and spell schools. The player’s goal is to explore a handcrafted world, engage in a combination of sword and sorcery combat, solve puzzles, and uncover lore and relics. THQ Nordic and Paraglacial hint at some of the story elements in their release “Venture into a handcrafted world where ruins whisper of past cataclysms”
Fatekeeper features a focused narrative progression with exploration as an emphasis rewarding players with new encounters. Players will battle foes with varied patterns, strengths and weaknesses, while allowing engagement in melee combat and the ability to unleash spells. Players can choose builds between strength, precision, and sorcery. Players can discover, loot, and master weapons, armor and artifacts; loadouts are customizable.
Paraglacial seem to be focusing their expertise into creating a successor to classic RPG titles such as The Elder Scrolls series and Might and Magic. With their own emphasis on ‘handcrafted’, the team is showing careful attention to their world and their environmental storytelling. The title is also implementing a unique physics based magic system, helping this title standing out from the crowd. With the title launching in Early Access, the team at Paraglacial seems to be welcoming a new community and choosing to showcase the title’s blend of combat and magic. We’ll have to watch out for this title and see if it can meet the bar that it seeks to reach this winter.
