UPDATE: First Dark Souls III DLC Out In The US October 25th

UPDATE: (8/24 11:09)

The trailer is up. The Ashes Of Ariandel DLC will be out stateside on October 25th.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Have you been dying to get back into Lothric and die all over again in a whole new area? If you live in Japan, you will soon get that chance.

Last week, we wrote about the official Dark Souls Twitter account hinting at some major Souls news on the way, but the actual announcement was set for August 24th. However, it seems that news leaked a day early.

According to Siliconera, the DLC was revealed by the Japanese site Hachima. Specifics on the DLC are slim but what is known is that the DLC will feature a new snow area, new weapons and armor, new magic, and a PvP-exclusive map called “Immortal Competition”. The site references images that we were not shown, but they sure sound cool. There was a description of a new great sword with colorless flame, a spell that conjures an ice storm and one that creates a boomerang made of light.

Siliconera doesn’t mention the name of the DLC, but a raven777 on NeoGAF posted an image potentially revealing the expansion’s title, Ashes of Ariandel.

We reported earlier that From is currently planning on two DLC packs for the game with the first releasing in the fall and the second coming at later date. As for pricing, the first expansion will cost 1200 Yen (roughly $12), or you can purchase the season pass for 2000 Yen (roughly $20). Players that buy the season pass for the PS4 will receive a free PS4 theme.  This price point is slightly lower than the US season pass which costs $24 this doesn’t mean anything as it could be due to the difference in currency.

Right now, the DLC is slated to launch in Japan on October 26th . While there isn’t a US release date yet it will most likely be announced along with the DLC tomorrow. Check back here for an updated article.
