Fire Emblem Heroes Gets a Major Story Expansion in Latest Update

Earlier this week, Nintendo revealed the contents of the next update rolling out for Fire Emblem Heroes. In a video on Nintendo’s mobile YouTube channel, the publisher introduced its “Book II” update, which among other things will add an entirely new chapter of story content to the mobile RPG.

Nintendo gave a brief outline of its new story: “Book II focuses on Fjorm, princess of an ice kingdom. King Surtur, of a fire kingdom, opposes her. And summoners who are just starting out, don’t worry. You can jump into the story straight from Book II; chapters one and two of Book II will be available right away, with more chapters coming in future updates.” Naturally, Fjorm will be joining other Fire Emblem characters to vanquish Surtur, and Nintendo also noted that all players who beat the first chapter of Book II will get a free five-star version of Fjorm for their party.

The update will also bring the “Farfetched Heroes” event, which will allow players to unlock new legendary heroes. Lute from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Mia from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and Dorcas from Fire Emblem will all be available for collecting in Farfetched Heroes.

The game is also getting gameplay tweaks, introducing a Weapon Refinery feature which lets players enhance their weapons using in-game currency, and a shorter cooldown timer for special skills. Finally, Nintendo teased an upcoming Legendary Hero Summoning Event, which will include Fjorm and eleven other heroes – all with a five-star focus appearance rate of eight percent.

The Book Two update is live now; Fire Emblem Heroes is available for Android and iOS devices. Below you can watch both Nintendo’s full original FEH announcement video, and the standalone Book II launch movie.

In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
