Nintendo announced today a special edition New 3DS XL will be released alongside Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest and Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright. The New 3DS XL bundle will release on February 19th along with the games and will cost $199.99. Unfortunately, the system does not come bundled with either versions of the games, so if any Fire Emblem fans haven’t bought a 3DS yet, you might want to click those pre-order buttons.
Along with the New 3DS XL bundle, Nintendo also revealed some details pertaining to Fates DLC. For $19.99, players will be able to download Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation for either versions of the game after completing chapter 6 in the story. While Conquest and Birthright show the same story from different sides, it seems that the Revelation DLC will be the same story regardless of the version you have. Players can expect the Revelation DLC to be available on March 10th.
Along with the Revelations DLC, Nintendo also announced some more standard DLC for Fire Emblem Fates. The first of a series of Map-Packs will be released on February 19th, the date of the game’s release, and will cost $17.99. As announced during November’s Nintendo Direct, a complete version of the game containing both Birthright and Conquest, Revelations, an artbook, and a 3DS carrying pouch will be released for $79.99. If true Fire Emblem fans want to witness the entire story of Fates, then this special edition is a good way to save $10 and get some extra swag.
I’m not sure if Nintendo is still getting used to DLC or that these games are just brimming with content, Fire Emblem Fates looks like a pricey endeavor. If fans want a true Fire Emblem experience, then they should purchase the special edition, the New 3DS XL, the map packs, and all 6 of the Fire Emblem Amiibo. For $350, a Fire Emblem fan with a lot of disposable income can enjoy literally everything Fire Emblem Fates has to offer.
