Fire Emblem Engage’s New Trailer Previews Main Storyline

Nintendo of America is ready to offer us some more information about the upcoming Fire Emblem Engage. The latest entry in the long-running JRPG series by Intelligent Systems is coming early next year on January 20, 2023, and now we have a much bigger picture on the main story for the title. Nintendo has released a brand new trailer for the game, all of which pertains to the plot, in a special trailer video dubbed The Divine Dragon Awakens, and is chalked full of stunningly beautiful cutscenes. We also get a look at a lot of the characters from the game, which includes the brand new protagonist Alear, as well as previous franchise hero Marth who plays a major role here.

As we already mentioned, this trailer consists only of the aforementioned cut scenes. Therefore, there is absolutely no gameplay to view or speak of here. As you can probably guess, the Divine Dragon is none other than Alear, the main protagonist. We see Alear attempting to put together puzzle pieces from his past in order to fight the powerful Fell Dragon, as well as other many opponents. We also see the return of Marth, the protagonist of the original Fire Emblem, as he plays a protector role for Alear and assists him with battles and other endeavors. Other past heroes from the franchise also make appearances, such as Sigurd, Cecilia, and even Ike.

Fire Emblem Engage was initially revealed during the Nintendo Direct this past September. The title will have you controlling many warriors in a tactical JRPG setting, using specific weapons and abilities to take on a number of enemies while using strategic moves to take advantage of the battlefield. You’ll also be working to collect the Emblem Rings which are scattered across the world and bring them back to the Continent of Elyos. As we also saw in the trailer, we can summon past heroes and fight with them while also adding their abilities to your overall arsenal.

Fire Emblem Engage will officially release on January 20, 2023, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
