Following Final Fantasy XVI’s global release of over 3 million units in matter of days, recent physical unit sales data from Japan has revealed it to be the best-selling new physical PS5 release in the country. According to Japanese sales tracker Famitsu via Gemitsu, Final Fantasy XVI sold over 336,027 physical units in one week, knocking down Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom which sold 25,155 physical units.
That said the Nintendo Switch remained on top of Japan’s hardware sales with a total of 105,990 units sold, beating the PlayStation 5’s 85,385 total units sold. This report covered the physical game software and hardware sales data top 10 Rankings in the week of June 12, 2023 to June 18, 2023. The report concluded that rankings 11 to 30 would be announced June 30th.
