Final Fantasy XV Will Now Let Players Switch Between Characters

It’s been a little over a year since we received Final Fantasy XV, but there has been no shortage of post launch content for the game. Since the release we have received multiple updates, expansions for each of the main characters, in game events, and even a full out VR title based on the fishing feature of the game.

Even more recently during an Active Time Report, Square Enix revealed that within the free update coming in December, players will be able to switch between characters within the traveling pack. Up until now players were only able to control the game’s main protagonist, Noctis during single player gameplay. But the next update will allow players to switch freely between Prompto, Ignis, and Gladio at any point in time within the open world portions of the game.

This next update will be the final addition within Final Fantasy XV’s season pass and will release alongside the Episode Ignis DLC on December 13, just in time to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise. The developer also showed off more footage of the upcoming chapter during Sony’s Paris Games Week pre-show.

Those who own the season pass for the game will get the chapter free of charge, but for those who don’t they can purchase Episode Ignis for the price of $5. Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto also teased that 2018 will be a huge year for the series. Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata also confirmed that three more DLC chapters will be released next year at different points.
