The latest news on one of the top MMORPGs to date has been revealed giving Final Fantasy XIV fans something to look forward to this October. Patch 5.1 has been announced and it will contain loads of content including a new game plus for current expansions, a new raid featuring a crossover with Nier: Automata, and changes to a select few jobs and classes.
One of the most interesting additions is the new game plus mode that will be added to FFXIV. Currently, players will only be able to use the feature with all currently playable expansions that have been released for FFXIV. It has been confirmed that A Realm Reborn will also receive the treatment but is still in the works. Players will play through scenarios from the beginning to experience the stories yet again but will not receive any quest rewards this time around.
As for classes, crafting and gathering classes will be getting an update that should help new players get accustomed to the system much quicker than before. The update will include a new UI that is intended to be more user-friendly. Some actions will be removed altogether to make the process seem more seamless while synthesis and desynthesis will also be revamped. For gathering, the ability Sneak replaces Stealth; it lets them walk past enemies without aggro-ing them which will also work now running and mounted.
As for jobs, Blue Mage is looking to have it’s level cap increased 60. The job has had some restrictions compared to others as far as leveling goes so still won’t be able to partake with endgame content but will have more spells to learn if you feel like soloing for a time. Along with Blue Mage, it seems Summoner, Ninja, and Samurai are getting big adjustments as well. No word yet on exactly what those are for the DPS classes.
The next 24-player Raid will also be released for the patch. Even more exciting, it will include a crossover theme featuring Nier: Automata. Players will run through a world inspired by Nier and take on foes right alongside 2B herself.
Final Fantasy XIV continues to go strong with all the content it dishes out to its fans. The newest additions are sure to freshen things up once again after the great stride Shadowbringers provided. Patch 5.1 will be coming out sometime late October and will be released on both PS4 and PC simultaneously.
