Final Fantasy XII Remaster Coming In 2017

It looks like that Square Enix is going the Capcom route of updating popular franchise titles ahead of the sequel. Granted this remaster won’t be out until sometime in 2017 and Final Fantasy XV is slated for September 30th, but it still gets people interested.

According to Kotaku (via Famitsu) Square is working on a remake of the twelfth entry in the series called Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. The remake will be based off of the Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System version of the game, which is a re-released version of the game that changed character development by adding a jobs system.

Originally, this version of the game was only available in Asia. So outside of importing the game and looking up a patch to play the game in English, most Western fans haven’t been able to play it.

FFXII: TZA will feature new character models and cutscenes, as well as shorter load times, an improved turbo mode and the addition of an auto-save function.

The Zodiac Age will re-record the original soundtrack, but much like the Final Fantasy X remake fans will be able to choose between the re-record and the original soundtrack while playing the game.

Square Enix also released a teaser trailer for the game that you can watch below.

Final Fantasy: The Zodiac Age will be out sometime in 2017 for PS4.
