Final Fantasy III Coming To Steam Tomorrow

First to be on PlayStation from Square Enix and later released on DS in 2006, the Final Fantasy III remake will be making its way to PC via Steam, and it will be releasing tomorrow, May 27th. Other titles released on Steam in the series include Final Fantasy VII and VIII. Square Enix will be bringing the RPG game to PC via Steam for $15.99.

Back in 1990 Final Fantasy III made its Japanese debut, then it took 16 years later for it to finally be reached in Europe and America. This re-release will not just be a straight port, the version of the game will include quicker browsing through the monster bestiary, the graphics had been updated and spiced up a little.

The Final Fantasy III story revolves on the four orphan kids named Luneth, Arc, Refia, Ingus who are from a remote village “UR” and they are drawn to the crystal of light, where the crystal gives them the power and task to restore the balance in the world from going into darkness, destruction, and chaos due to the antagonist, Xande. Players will combat in a turn-based form with hit points shown on targets after you attack them. This is also the first game for the series that offered commands like the “Jump or Steal.”

Square Enix lists on Steam the new features that are included:

  • New and improved 3D visuals and story sequences

  • Quicker browsing through the monster bestiary and other game record

  • New visual designs for the Job Mastery Cards

  • Upgraded graphics for PC

  • Includes Steam Trading Cards & Achievements

Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase told Eurogamer that the previous games in the series like Final Fantasy VII’s Steam re-release had been successful and that this could open the doors to more launches from the series to come in the future: “Final Fantasy 7 and 8 are now available on PC and they’ve been proving quite popular,” he said. “It’s an early stage for us. We haven’t got an awful lot of experience in this field. [But] when we have more know-how and experience in this market we would be very interested.”

As mentioned above, you will be able to get Final Fantasy II for your Nintendo 3DS, but you can also grab the game for your Windows Phones, Ouya, and iOS devices.
