Today, Blizzard revealed the final cards for the next expansion of Hearthstone. Scholomance Academy introduces a number of new mechanics to Hearthstone. The biggest is Spellburst,’ the new keyword is a one time only effect that happens after a spell gets cast. Another thing getting added to the game are dual-class cards that can be used across the different classes of the game. The last thing being added to the game as part of the Scholomance Academy expansion are Studies, cards that will discover specific types of other cards and reduce the cost of the next card of the type that gets discovered. About 38 cards were revealed during the livestream. Here is the rundown of all the new cards for the Mage, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Warrior, Priest, Warlock, Palladian, and Druid classes.
For the Mage class, Brain Freeze freezes a minion and has a Combo effect that also deals 3 damage to the target. Trick Totem casts a random spell that costs 3 or less at the end of your turn. Wyrm Weaver has a spellburst that summons two 1/3 Mana Wyrms. Firebrand has a spellburst that deals 4 damage randomly split among all enemy minions. Cram Session allows you to draw 1 card (improved by spell damage). Steward of Scrolls has Spell Damage +1 and has a Battlecry that lets you discover a spell. Sorcerous Substitute has a Battlecry that lets you summon a copy of itself if you have Spell Damage.
The new Demon Hunter cards consist of Double Jump which allows you to draw an Outcast card from your deck. Fel Guardians summons 3 1/2 demons with Taunt and it costs 1 less whenever a friendly minion dies. Blood Herald gets +1/+1 when this is in your hand whenever a friendly minion dies. Demon Companion summons a random demon companion. Vilefiend Trainer has an Outcast ability that summons two 1/1 demons. Voracious Reader lets you draw until you have 3 cards at the end of your turn. Manafeeder Panthara has a Battlecry that lets you draw a card if you have used your Hero Power during the turn.
The new Hunter cards include Teacher’s Pet that has Taunt and Deathrattle that summons a random 3 cost beast. Carrion Studies lets you discover a Deathrattle minion and reduces the cost by 1 for the next one. Overwhelm deals 2 damage to a minion and 1 more for each beast that you control. Wolpertinger has a Battlecry that summons a copy of itself. Bloated Python has a Deathrattle that summons a 4/4 Hapless Handler. Krolusk Barkstripper has a Spellburst trigger that destroys a random enemy minion.
The Warrior cards revealed during the livestream are Shield of Honor, Coerce, and Reaper’s Scythe. Shield of Honor gives a damaged minion +3 Attack and Divine Shield. Coerce destroys a damaged minion and has a Combo that destroys any minion. Reaper’s Scythe has a Spellburst that also damages adjacent minions during the same turn.
The new Priest cards coming to the game are Raise Dead that deals 3 damage to your hero and brings back 2 friendly minions that died during the game into your hand. Draconic Studies lets you Discover a dragon and reduces the cost for the next one by 1. Power Word: Feast gives a minion +2/+2 and restores it to full health at the end of the turn. Mindreader Illucia has a Battlecry that lets you swap hands and decks with your opponent until your next turn. Plagued Protodrake has a Deathrattle that summons a random 7 cost minion. Crimson Hothead has a Spellburst trigger that gains +1 Attack and Taunt.
Warlock cards revealed for Scholomance Academy include Demonic Studies which Discovers a demon and reduces the next one by 1. Animated Broomstick has Rush and a Battlecry that gives your other minions rush. Robes of Protection gives minions “can’t be targeted by spells or Hero Powers.” Desk Imp is a 1/1 that costs 0. Tour Guide has a Battlecry that makes your next Hero Power cost 0.
The two Druid cards revealed during the stream are Twilight Runner and Lake Thresher. Twilight Runner has Stealth and lets you draw 2 cards whenever it attacks. Lake Thresher also damages the minions next to whomever this attacks.
Lastly, the Palidan cards that were revealed include Wave of Apathy, Commencement, and Judicious Junior. Wave of Apathy sets Attack of all minions to 1 until your next turn. Commencement summons a minion from your deck and gives it Taunt and Divine Shield. Judicious Junior is a 4/9 with Lifesteal.
Scholomance Academy is set to release on August 6.
