Developer Ghost Machine have released a new selection of screenshots for their Oculus VR flight combat game Final Burn, as well as a new video showcasing alpha stage gameplay.
The Oculus VR has been getting a lot of attention from the media recently, but even more important than the media for most gamers are the game companies that have been keeping an eye on the hardware or, more, developing for it.
One of the companies that seems to have embraced the hardware whole-heartedly as a primary development platform is Ghost Machine VR. The development studio is currently working on number of titles for the Oculus VR headset in hopes of having a solid library for the hardware when it hits market. One of those titles, Final Burn, has recently received a facelift on its page at the company’s site, with new screenshots and a new gameplay video showcasing the game’s current state.
On the one hand it’s important to keep in mind that at this time the game is still in its alpha stages of development: this is obvious in some of the models used in the gameplay video and screenshots, such as the rather blocky knees, repeating trees, and static cockpit contents. On the other hand, much of what is being shown off is quite nice even on a standard 2d display, such as the general terrain generation and flight model.
Flight combat games have become somewhat more of a rarity than they once were, so it is nice to see a developer working on one for the VR community. The Oculus is getting a lot of great support right now, even while still in its development stage.
Neal Nellans, CEO of Ghost Machine, is excited about the Oculus and for his company’s upcoming games on the platform.
