Berserkboygames have recently announced that their side scrolling action adventure game Berserk Boy will be releasing for the PlayStation 5; Gematsu reports that the title, previously only available on the Nintendo Switch and PC is now readily available to wishlist on PlayStation 5 and will be available on Feb 18.
Berserk Boy is set in the distant future, where the world is dominated by a mad scientist along with an army of darkness bent on enslaving the people of Earth. You are Kei, hope of the resistance and transformed by a mysterious orb energy into Berserk Boy.
Six One Indie interviewed sole developer on Berserk Boy, Zu Etisham and he had this to say about his inspiration in creating Berserk Boy “So i grew up on Megaman, i’m wearing a Megaman t-shirt, but there’s a lot of things that are a big melting pot of like inspirations that went into Berserk Boy and it was always like my thing for what I wanted to make into something commercial; it would be very unique and inspired by things I love but as I carried on working on my first project it just kept iterating and it became something like everything I like, all my influences went into it. It was strange but yeah.”
Berserk Boy features an elemental system through the Berserk Orbs, You’ll unleash special attacks by chaining together combos. The game features hidden side missions and collectibles. Berserk Boy Features a unique score from Sonic Mania composer Tee Lopes, who has also worked on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soundtrack, Streets of Rage 4, and Metal Slug Tactics.
Berserk Boy aims to pay respect to retro action adventure platformers by innovating on the strong foundation laid out by them. Taking this opportunity to extend the titles availability to another platform may prove advantageous for this solo developer.
