FIFA 17 Release Announced

The newest game in the long running FIFA series has been announced by EA. FIFA 17 will be released on XBOX ONE, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation3 on September 27th of this year. September 27th is the North American release, September 29th the game will become available worldwide.

The next gen console and PC versions of the game will be powered by the Frostbite engine, abandoning the original EA Ignite engine.  This is an engine that was developed by the EA subsidiary DICE and has been used most notably in the Battlefield series. According to the EA press release the Frostbite is “One of the industry’s leading game engines, Frostbite delivers authentic, true-to-life action, takes players to new football worlds, and introduces fans to characters full of depth and emotion.” FIFA 17 seems to be promising a lot of change from the previous iterations. Each version contains a varying amount of FIFA Ultimate Team packs and FIFA Ultimate Team loaned “Team of the Week” players. All preorder versions of the game include custom Ultimate Team kits and an 8 game Ultimate Team rental of the game’s cover players. These players are Chelsea FC’s Eden Hazard, Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, and Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus. EA, in its release, refers to these players as “Ambassadors” because of their involvement in developing the game as well as for being 4 of the best footballers currently playing.
