Fez developer Phil Fish has gotten into some nasty fights on Twitter before, but today he apparently hit his tipping point. After a hostile exchange with Marcus Beer, co-host of the show Invisible Walls on GameTrailers.com, Fish protected his Twitter account and announced that Fez 2 is cancelled. He then posted the cancellation announcement on the official account for his game company, Polytron.
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that FEZ II has been cancelled and is no longer in development. We apologize for the disappointment

After Beer attacked Fish on Invisible Walls, Fish fired back on Twitter, calling Beer a “media leech” and a “middle-aged parasite” before telling Beer to “compare your life to mine and then kill yourself”. He then demanded an apology from Beer and, after receiving waves of responses, protected his account and announced Fez 2‘s cancellation.
Beer has since invited Fish to talk at PAX about their issues, adding “You don’t help with the way you communicate. You alienate people myself included”.
