Exactly a year has passed since Attu Games, a small two-man Czech based development team, announced that their next titled Feudal Alloy would be hitting all major consoles in 2019. The game is a simple hero’s set-up. Players take on the role of Attu, a simple farmer who takes care of his crops out in his sunflower field cottage. That is, of course, until a band of outlaws comes and overruns your village, burns your house, and takes all your stuff. With only his sword left, Attu goes on an adventure to defeat evil and return home. The quirky and charming thing about Attu, however, is that he’s a piloting a medieval suit of armor. And he’s a fish. He’s also got a new launch trailer:
The game is done in the Metroidvania style of side-scrolling puzzle fighting games. With power-ups and skills to invest in, Attu can become one fighting fish against the world. With completely hand-drawn graphics and backgrounds, there’s a certain charm to this world that makes for a unique appearance. As Attu, you can take different paths and choose to fight your battles or avoid them completely, whichever you decide. But with unique enemy and boss designs, it might be worth looking to fight a little more, and grind your way up to being a fancy fish-knight:
There are all sorts of upgrades and attacks that have been revealed. From sword attacks and grenades, to special moves, Attu can learn many skills and become stronger, all to head towards the final boss and defeat the evil. With such a simple story, Attu Games clearly went all out on the designs, charm, and overall appearance of the game.
Feudal Alloy is set to come out January 17, 2019 for PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Pre-orders are currently live. To keep up with Feudal Alloy and Attu Games, follow their Twitter or their website.
