Green Lava Studios, a Costa Rican game development studio, is ready to make their appearance on PS4, with their addictive 2D platformer called Fenix Rage. The news comes to us from an announcement on the PlayStation blog, mentioning that Fenix Rage’s art, music, and gameplay is inspired from games that include Sonic The Hedgehog, Hellboy, and SWAT Kats, said by Green Lava CEO Eduardo Ramirez.
Green Lava Studios made their first game appearance on Google Play back in September 2012, with a game called Fenix Box and the Legend of The Cookie, which was meant to be a simple game, in order to test out new mechanics. This later then lead up to being the main support to their current game, Fenix Rage. Fenix Rage, also got to make its debut at this years PAX East back in April, with some feedback from some of the players mentioning how awesome the controls felt.
“We have some great new modes to show off, new levels to design and perfect, more cookies to hide… but at least for today, we’re just sitting in our simple office here in Moravia, Costa Rica, just amazed about this great feeling.”
The press kit mentions that it includes features like:
- Hardcore fast-paced platformer.
- 9 unique worlds, 200+ levels.
- Cookie-based achievement system.
- Non-text storytelling.
- 2 unlockable endings.

The Costa Rican game developer will bring this game to the PS4 for the first time, and this game brings a source of pride for Ramirez. “Our country doesn’t boast many well-known game developers so our team here feels a little bit of national pride,” he wrote. “Well … a little lucky, too.” The game is expected to launch this fall on PS4, be prepared to grab the cookie in the level and “have a glass of milk” handy when it arrives.
