It was back in early December that Ubisoft announced they would be creating a follow-up sequel to Far Cry 5. Far Cry: New Dawn is a future apocalyptic game set 17 years after the nuclear ending of Far Cry 5. It takes place in Hope Country, Montana as its predecessor did, and it features a rather colorful setting.
The whole game was designed around being online co-op which allowed for a multiplayer aspect. But in January, it was decided that it would have a ‘light RPG approach’ to help with revitalizing the game’s mechanics, all to team up and take down Mickey and Lou, The Twins, who are the current antagonists of the new installation. And they received their own special video to show off some of their deranged antics that they consider “fun” in this “Twice as Bad” live-action trailer:
Not much is given about these two aside from this description by scriptwriter Olivia Alexander: “[They’ve been] incredibly shaped by the world that they had to grow up in.[…] They’re here for a good time, not a long time.”
Which, given that the entire trailer for them is a shoot’em-up set to the hit song “It’s Raining Men” reissued by SixtyFour Music, is a pretty accurate depiction of the game’s general vibe. Whether or not this is the launch trailer has yet to be determined, but it’s still some campy and action-packed fun, in the sense of how The Twins see fun.
Far Cry New Dawn will be available on February 15, 2019 for PS4, XBox One, and PC.
