Following the successful launch of the Fallout television show, which will continue with season 2, the franchise has seen a resurgence in players visiting the Wasteland across all of its titles. One of the biggest titles that has seen a big bump is Fallout 76, the always online multiplayer version of Fallout. Yesterday, Bethesda Game Studios took to social media to thank everyone for playing while revealing that Fallout 76 got over 1 million players playing in that one day. They also noted that over 5 million players have been playing across all of the Fallout titles in a single day.
Jonathan Rush, Creative Director for Fallout 76 also took to social media to thank everyone for playing.
Almost 2.5 billion minutes were watched across the Fallout show’s eight episodes during the week of its release. This works out to about 5.2 million views, according to entertainment data provider Luminate (via Variety).
Alongside the show’s success and the massive surge of players, there are also a variety of giveaways for the franchise. Fallout 76 is currently available to claim on both PC and Xbox consoles for Prime members. Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas will be available to play for free for the next six months via Amazon Luna, Amazon’s cloud gaming platform.
Fallout 4 has also seen a resurgence in players but will most likely see more with the release of its next-gen update which comes out tomorrow.
The success of the show has also prompted the video game community to question when we’ll be getting the next Fallout games. Currently, Bethesda Game Studios is focused on The Elder Scrolls VI.
However, there is something new Fallout-related coming but it will be coming later than expected. Those working on Fallout: London, a DLC-sized mod that takes players to post-nuke London, recently announced that it has been indefinitely delayed following Bethesda Game Studio’s announcement of the Fallout 4 next-gen update.
Dean Carter, the project lead on Fallout London talked about why they had to delay it. “We’ve just been tweaking and testing to get things as stable as we can for you all in time for that release. But with the new update dropping just 48 hours later, the past four years of our work stand to just simply break.”
