It looks like Bethesda is going to bring back one of their older titles for a modern upgrade, and this time it isn’t Skyrim! The company has announced that Fallout 4 will be getting next-gen upgrades for free sometime in 2023. This means that the game will be coming to the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/Series S as well as the PC version which will be getting the exact same upgrade. This comes nearly eight years to the day when the game originally launched on November 10, 2015. This announcement was also part of a post that is connected to the company’s celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
The update will include the obligatory performance mode, which allows for higher framerates over a cleaner resolution. There will also be a choice to prefer the resolution, going all the way up to 4K resolution should you have a television or a monitor to support it. In addition, there will also be bug fixes, which is a very prevalent aspect of any Bethesda title, as well as more content to thee Creation Club which is Bethesda’s official mod support feature.
As we already mentioned earlier, Bethesda did not give a specific release date for this update, only a 2023 release time frame. Considering the fallout from the release of Fallout 76, as well as the recent report of crunch culture at the studio, it’s more than likely that we won’t see a full mainline single-player Fallout experience for quite some time. Of course, like any other Bethesda title, the modding community has added a treasure trove of extra content, stemming all the way from single-player campaigns to putting in real-life characters. This new announcement will also potentially bring back more players to the current version, which means even more modding content that will likely be added.
